What system of yoga you follow?

.

From our Yoga Center in Athens Greece we suggest a sequence of yoga lessons. In yoga lesson you will experience the benefits of the system of yoga we follow. Our yoga classes includes yoga exercises (yoga asanas), breath techniques (Pranayama) and ends with a yoga relaxation or Yoga Nidra. In some cases we may stay on for meditation. The practice of yoga asanas are the perfect way to strengthen the body and restore agility. Some may need to strengthen, some give vitality to the body and others may need to restore mobility, their range of motion or to calm down and ease stress and anxiety and some want it all. However the asanas act in a multitude of levels inside us. In short, the pursuit of yoga will bring the body into balance and counterbalance power with agility. We also use yoga props that can be just the wall of our house. We use these props for proper entry, stay and exit from any yoga asana. The props are typically belts, chairs, special pillows, stools, ropes. We use the props - guides for proper placement and alignment of the body to get the benefits of the advanced techniques of yoga because they support us and lead us. We owe all this and are grateful for it to BKS Iyengar. The "gospel" in the system of BKS Iyengar is the book "Light on Yoga" by himself. In his description of each asana he gives instructions for proper breathing. Of course! How else? As we breathe comfortably without restrictions and obstacles that means that we can remain in the asana. If we cut or stop the breath we must stop the exercise and relax because if we do not we may even be injured. We connect again with awareness with the breath and continue our practice. In our yoga lessons we do the exercises (asanas) with rich, deep, comfortable and full breathing. With the props we can improve posture and return to our axis, the correct posture of the body. The asanas are particularly favorable for the intense mode of life with minimal body movement and stress. Each asana has its own breath. If we have the proper breathing this same breathing corrects any yoga posture (asana), brings us to our real possibilities and protects us from any excess. We apply the correct anatomical guidance on the attitudes of yoga practice for the alignment of the spine. Here the "props" are very important. The yoga asanas enable us to treat common problems of the spine. We may restore the curves and also the proper alignment of the spine. We are known for the Liberation of Breath they demand from us, and only in session for fast and specific results. The liberation of the breath is part of the normal program of yoga lessons. In our practice we have it as a basis the release of breath in order to go on Pranayama (Pranayama = energy techniques of yoga-related breathing). Free breathing and Pranayama are combined with the yoga asanas, so that we can get all the benefits of the practice. Our lesson begins with a brief introduction - concentration, in order to get the spirit of yoga and get rid of the before and the after, of the thoughts about the future, of the memories of the past, and focus solely on the yoga lesson with full awareness. We move on exercises for body and mind (asanas), free breathing, Pranayama and we complete with Yoga Nidra or Guided Relaxation. The relaxation in yoga is the perfect way to deal with stress and tension, it removes muscle fatigue that may have been created by the pursuit of yoga if the practice is too strong. Within relaxation the body finds the opportunity to be reconstructed. Here the body heals by itself and the method often proves therapeutic. The properties of relaxation serve as a preparation for meditation and meditation classes: "Introduction to Meditation." In some more advanced courses some stay for meditation because it combines nicely after relaxation. It is a short but deep meditation. In order to come gradually from “I do meditation” to “I am I a state of meditation”.

We are influenced by many systems. We do not make people fit into a system that was given to us, we customize systems to the needs of people who turn to us. The system that we follow in our center is similar to the lifestyle, age and temperament of the group or person who are sent to us. Sometimes we do the yoga asanas more vigorously, some other time in a more meditative way and more "psychological" way. Each assana has a metaphysical dimension that everyone experiences differently in practice. Today more and more often there is a need and they ask of us to manage stress and tension. We adjust our practice according to the needs, the dynamics of the group and ... the vibration of each day. Every day we are not at the same skill level when we do our practice. Put simply, we are selective, we seek the benefits from all the schools and different systems of yoga.

We do not hesitate to use techniques from other yoga schools and whatever other system occurs as it is obvious that this method enriches us. With Pranayamas we will improve our energy situation. Meditation will help us develop our ability to focus and our awareness in meditation practise. These meditation classes are based on Raja Yoga. Raja Yoga is the yoga of meditation. We have many ways and meditation techniques from many different schools. In our "yoga school" in the relaxation that takes place after completing a yoga class we enter in such deep levels of relaxation and renewal that borders on meditation. For best results we use various systems of guided relaxation and an important part in them is Yoga Nidra for complete renewal. Yoga Nidra is a key element in the relaxation lessons.

According to tradition each system contains all yoga. Even a small part of it as asana contains all yoga, all systems and schools. If you dominate a small part of as a simple asana, we have acquired the total of yoga. Who said it is simple? In a practical level now we give more emphasis on the harmony of movement with breathing and bring balance and harmony on many levels. Proportionate increase of strength, balanced with agility. It is not only strength that balances with agility, but even the front to the back of the body. We harmonize the top to the bottom of the body, the inside to the outside, the energy of the sky to the earth, inhalation to exhalation. We coordinate the body with the mind and the breath. With yoga we bring and create a balance and stability within ourselves regardless of the circumstances that have arisen or may accrue to us. What we seek and strive to practice is what we teach. This alignment in both body and mind is the essence and spirit of Hatha Yoga. For questions and information on yoga lessons, please contact us:
