Yoga and Meditation

Meditation is the fifth and sixth dimension according to the texts of Raja Yoga, the Yoga Sutras (Yoga Sutras - Sutra = laconic verses as objects of meditation) of Patanjali. On these texts we rely when we say that meditation derives directly from yoga.

Meditation is more necessary than ever. It helps us to find the fixed point in our media, our center, when all around us move, change and run. Seek and require ever more of us. We do meditation from our center, this fixed point within us, we see more clearly movement around us. This makes us more functional without getting "dizzy" from the motion and change. We can move forward without damages.

The relaxation of yoga and the capacity to offer gives us that inner peace as a solid base to move into the deeper levels of inner meditation. Meditation is true relaxation. The ability to relax and get rid of tension is one of the many benefits of meditation. Meditation is the ultimate method of relaxation. Tension, anxiety and stress deform situations and facts. We glorify or underestimate them. Meditation increases awareness to see things and situations in their true dimensions. Improving awareness, self-awareness, purity of thought and mind are just some of the gifts of meditation. Meditation (any form of it you practice) enhances the yoga practice. And yoga is like a preparation for meditation. According to tradition, meditation is part of what comes from yoga. This does not mean that you have to practice yoga in order to do meditation. Our experience is that the devices we provide (meditation stools, special meditation pillows) or the vibration of the area due to the yoga practice  and meditation make things easier. New people who come to us are looking for meditation sooner in our yoga classes. So we make the obvious connection of yoga with meditation. With or without yoga classes, meditation classes start with short meditation and the necessary instructions. We are moving gradually, so as to feel comfortable, and increase the duration. Meditation beyond technique and devices is an internal journey. It is the path to self-awareness to the inner truth.
