    Yoga Nidra
 

Yoga Nidra is a method of relaxation and meditation. The founder of Yoga Nidra is Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Freely modified from us it solves the emotional, mental, spiritual, physical stress and anxiety. Yoga Nidra leads awareness to new dimensions. Yoga Nidra etymologically means yogic sleep. As a method of guided relaxation it leads awareness to conscious dreams. In a practical level the guidance of Yoga Nidra is done with non-stop speech. If there are gaps in the speech the people who follow the guidance will be lost and will sleep normally. Then conscious yogic sleep becomes unconscious but somewhat paradoxical sleep. This sleep is totally different and uniquely deep. Normally sleep should not happen in Yoga Nidra. But it may happen in the gaps that the person who leads the guidance in Yoga Nidra may leave. In large classes we used to lead some people in their sleep made a noise with their breathing. If we started by getting up the noise stopped as if they saw what was happening in the environment. In such classes and places the same phenomenon happened to other teachers who guided some kind of relaxation. The second point is when we completed the process of guiding these same people heard it normally and strange as it may seem they joined the rest of the team when the completion of the process was announced. I do not know if these phenomena have been explained and studied independently from our own experience.
What concerns us is that whatever we guide, relaxation or meditation have been influenced by Yoga Nidra. We do not understand it but those who have attended a regular Yoga Nidra class immediately recognize it. It seems that our studies in the Satyananda Yoga for some years that included Yoga Nidra have affected us more than we thought. The truth is that Yoga Nidra has affected not only us but also the whole world scene. Yoga Nidra may be turned into meditation and get like a guided meditation in a classroom- meditation workshop. Often in yoga classes we use pure Yoga Nidra.
   It has begun as an independent one-hour lesson - relaxation workshop course where we also guide in Yoga Nidra or Self-Hypnosis. In this course there is a preference for Yoga Nidra.
